School Actions to Ensure Students are on Grade Level and Prepared for their Futures

Now more than ever, we cannot allow this public health crisis to become a generational education crisis.

We now have an unprecedented opportunity to take actions that lead to more great options for students and communities. Texas COVID Learning Acceleration Supports (TCLAS) is a set of targeted supports and additional state and federal funding aligned to the Learning Acceleration Framework.

This is the moment to reimagine schools for the future and create the schools and learning opportunities families want and need.

School Actions as Learning Acceleration Strategy

School actions are holistic, evidence-based strategies that transform existing school models or create new options. School Actions are aligned with the Effective Schools Framework (ESF)including the use of high-quality instructional materials.

Redesigning, restarting, or creating a new school from the ground up takes significant effort. TCLAS New School Model supports provide deep 1-on-1 customized planning, community engagement, and implementation supports to help LEA and campus leaders establish a new school model.

School Action Types

The Center for School Actions (CSA) connects districts and schools with resources, tools, and guidance, to help plan aspirational, bold, and evidence-based school actions.

Redesign a School with a Blended Learning Model

An entrepreneurial school leader redesigns and implements a whole-school plan that better meets student needs. The school must create an Effective Schools Framework-aligned model that includes blended learning, high-quality instructional materials, high-quality student diagnostic assessments, social and emotional learning supports, high-dosage tutoring, and extended day or year.

Redesign Rural Schools with a Collegiate Edu-Nation Model

Support a school leader to design and implement a rural P-20 system model with fidelity as a district-managed campus. This Effective Schools Framework-aligned model must be developed to serve rural community needs, utilize a rural P-20 system model featuring dual credit opportunities, P-TECH programming, college and career coaching and work-based learning opportunities across the district, provide high-dosage tutoring, and include an extended school day or year.

Create a New School with a District-Designed Model

The district identifies an entrepreneurial leader to participate in an intensive school design program and create a new school with a clear mission and goals, an Effective Schools Framework-aligned model including high-quality instructional materials, and new teams who are empowered to achieve success for students.

Restart a Struggling School as an ACE Campus

(Implementation Only) A district transforms a school by implementing the ACE model, focused on strategic staffing and instructional excellence. The district will select new leadership and staff and the school model must be Effective Schools Framework-aligned, including high-quality instructional materials. All current students can stay and the school may remain a neighborhood school.
